## Overview

You need global administrator permission to [install the app](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AHP/pages/649660350) from the Atlassian Marketplace.

**Once installed**, you then need to

**Firstly,** check and update the [global configuration for the app](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=ahp&title=Comala%20Publishing%20Configuration%20-%20Global&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2229797298):

- Global user permissions for the app
- Spaces in which the app can be used
  - To publish and/or copy
  - For snapshot publishing

**Secondly,** a [space administrator configures](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AHP/pages/649563006)

- The link between the space for the content to be published (target space) and the space for the draft content (source space)
- The target space for a one-off copy of the space
- Content and properties to be published or copied, for example, pages, blog posts or both, and how they are published
- Whether the space can use snapshot publishing

---

#### User roles and permissions

Global configuration permissions for users let you manage which Confluence group members can configure publishing, copying, and snapshot publishing.

In general, you also need space administrator permission to configure publishing, copying, and snapshot publishing in each space.

A space administrator can configure publishing to allow page editors to publish documents on a page-by-page basis, but only the space administrator can publish the whole space’s content. Snapshot publishing user roles include managers of snapshot collections. This collection manager can then manage the users who can contribute snapshot documents to each collection and the users who can view the snapshots in each collection.

> 📝 If using Comala Document Management prior to v7.20 you need generate user tokens for snapshot users.

> ℹ️ The default group for each of these is **confluence-administrators**.

If required, set the spaces that can be published

A separate configuration setting for

- Publishing and copying
- Snapshot publishing

The default allowed spaces for each configuration are **ANY** space in the instance

> ✅ You can limit the spaces for each publishing feature by adding one or more `spacekeys`

Global admins can also

- **Set the prefixes for content properties**, such as metadata, to be published or copied
  - The default prefixes are `metadata` and `com.communardo`
- **Set the sync label** that space administrators can optionally use to ignore or publish space content
  - The default label value is **syncme**.

Once you have configured the global permissions for users and allowed spaces, the space administrator configures each space separately for publishing. In each space, you can:

- [Set up and publish the space](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AHP/pages/649954539)
- [Make a one-off copy of a space](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AHP/pages/2229243388)
- [Publish snapshots of documents](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AHP/pages/2229274320)
