You can add multiple asset custom fields to any screen you want for JIRA Core, Jira Software, JIRA Service Management, and the JSM customer portal. Then, you can filter its content by asset type(s) or saved filters.

### Prerequisites

- You must be a [**Jira administrator**](https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/managing-global-permissions-776636359.html).

### How to create an AIP Assets custom field

1. Go to **Settings** > **Work items**.
2. From the side menu, open the **Fields** section.
3. Click **Create new field**. The *Create field* dialog appears.
4. In the *Field type *dropdown, click **My field isn't listed here**.
5. Click **Use the old field creation** **experience**.

> ℹ️ As the *Assets* custom field is a field type created by an external app, you'll need to use the old field creation experience. Atlassian may update this process in the future.

6. In the old screen, click **Create custom field**.
7. Search for **AIP Assets** and select it.
8. Select **Next**.
9. Give your asset custom field a name and, optionally, a description.
10. Click **Create**.
11. Select the screens you want this field to appear in.
12. Click **Update**.

Now, the custom field will appear on the screens you’ve selected, and the users will be able to link assets to their requests in the Jira work item view. Keep in mind that you can link multiple assets on a single request by adding additional asset fields.

After creating the custom field, you can configure it to show specific assets:

1. Go to **Jira Settings **> **Work items** >** Custom Fields**.
2. Find the new custom field, then select **Contexts **>** Create, Edit, or Delete Contexts**.
3. Edit the context settings and select an **Asset filter**.
4. Choose the **Field type** (Single or Multiple choice).
5. Optionally, you can make this field read-only. If this option is selected, users won’t be able to edit the custom field’s value. Other AIP operations can edit the field. You can use this if the field value is set by a script or a post function.
6. Click **Submit**.
