Various modules provide you with different insights into your data. You can use the toggle switches to specify which modules are available by default in all boxes of a given box type.

Activating the modules and editing their names function the exact same way at the box type and box levels.

On this page, you will learn how to:

- Specify available modules for a given box type (box type configuration).
- Specify available modules for a given box (box configuration).

## Security and access

Keep in mind:

- A box type contains the default settings applicable to multiple boxes (all boxes of a given type). Those settings are adjusted in the BigGantt Administration.
- Box configuration refers to the settings of a single, individual box. They are dependent on the box type settings.

The table presents what you can configure at the box type and box levels.

| **Area** | **Security and access** | **What can be configured** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Box type configuration | Only a user with the App admin security role can access and manage the box type configuration.
Go to the** App Administration** >** Box type **>** choose the box type you want to edit** >** General** >** Modules**.
![image-20251211-130901.png](media://0d31a3bb-bf6f-48d3-84b4-23f7e00b4d0f) | For a box type (all boxes of a given type), you can configure:
- Available modules |
| Box configuration | Only a user with a minimum box admin security role can access and manage the box configuration.
Go to **box configuration** >** General** >** Modules**.
![image-20251211-130913.png](media://fa35ee86-04f9-4adb-abc8-327008ed448e) | For a particular box, you can configure:
- Available modules |

## Activate or deactivate modules

When you deactivate a module, all related configuration tabs and the module links will disappear. You can reactivate the module at any time without losing your data.

> ℹ️ Changes made to the default active modules apply only to boxes of a given type created after settings have been adjusted. Existing boxes **aren’t** affected (a manual update is required for each existing box).

To activate or deactivate, click the **Active** toggle switch.

## Default module

You can set a default module. When you go to a box, you are taken directly to the default module of that box.

Click **Set as the default **to change settings.

The order of the module list is fixed. The default module is not indicated in the module switcher.

## Default module names

Default module names are the same for all box types.

### Rename module names

Module names cannot be changed in BigGantt.
