# Introduction

The Connector provides two permission levels to control access to its features. Administrators can assign Confluence groups to either level:

- **View and edit**: Users who can configure the app (connections, permissions), edit macros, and view Salesforce-backed content on Confluence pages. Controlled by the **Authorized groups** setting.
- **View only**: Users who can see Salesforce-backed content in macros on Confluence pages, but cannot access app administration or macro editors. Controlled by the **Viewer groups** setting.

The features that authorized (view and edit) users can access include:

- View and edit the [Salesforce Object macro](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CCSFCONFC/pages/470091022) and [Salesforce Table macro](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CCSFCONFC/pages/470091122) output.
- Access to [Salesforce Search](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CCSFCONFC/pages/470090645).
- View the contents of [Mentions and Associations](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CCSFCONFC/pages/470090656).

> ℹ️ Confluence administrators, site admins, and org admins always have view-and-edit access, regardless of group membership. Anonymous access is not available.

Users who belong to neither an authorized group nor a viewer group will see an info message when they attempt to access restricted features.

# Step-by-step guide

1. In Confluence, go to the **Confluence administration **() in the top-right corner.
2. In the sidebar, under **Salesforce**, select **Permissions**. The **Permissions** screen opens.
3. To configure **View and edit **access: under **Authorized groups**, select a group from the dropdown. Members of this group can to configure the app, edit macros, and view Salesforce-backed content.
4. To configure **View only **access: under **Viewer groups**, select a group from the dropdown. Members of this group can see Salesforce-backed content on Confluence pages, but will not have access to app administration or macro editors.
5. Click **Save**.
