## Workflow Read Confirmation

Read confirmation is enabled in the approval workflow in Comala Approvals. 

A reviewer has the option of [adding a read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDALS/pages/649658785) for the final state when choosing to approve the content.

A read confirmation is added to the final state on the approved transition.


The [read confirmation can also be added](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDALS/pages/649658785) for the final state when approving content in the **Rejected** state.

The read confirmation status icon will appear on the page when the page is approved and transitions to the final state, **Approved**.

The read confirmation contextual status message is displayed in the page footer.

If the current user is assigned a read confirmation for the current content, the read confirmation status message will display a **Confirm** link for the user.

## Adding Readers

One or more users and/or groups of users can be assigned a read confirmation. These readers can be added to the **Approved** state read confirmation using the read confirmation popup. Choosing the read confirmation status icon displayed in the header navigation opens the [read confirmation popup.](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDALS/pages/649757283)

Users can be assigned a requested read confirmation using the **Edit readers** ellipsis menu option.

Assigned readers and, the status of their read confirmation will be displayed in the popup.

- readers can be assigned or removed using the popup.
- a due date for the read confirmation can be added or edited.


If a workflow read confirmation has been added previously, the read confirmation popup can also be accessed if the content transitions to the **Rejected** state.

The reviewer for the **Rejected** state approval can choose to enable a new read confirmation for the approve transition from the **Rejected** to the **Approved** state.

## Read confirmation for updated content

If the draft of a previously published page is approved, the reviewer has the option to reset the read confirmation by checking **Request read confirmation** in the **Review** state workflow popup.

On the **Approve** decision transition:

- any users assigned to the read confirmation previously are retained as readers.
- any previously completed individual user request read confirmations will be cleared.
- read confirmation due date will be reset.


If **Request read confirmation** is unchecked on the **Approve** decision transition:

- any users assigned to the read confirmation previously are retained as readers.
- any previously completed individual user read confirmations will be retained.
- read confirmation due date will not be reset.
- a newly completed user read confirmation will display an updated version appropriate to the content when the read confirmation was completed.

For the Comala Approval workflow, readers can only be removed or added using the **Edit readers** dropdown option in the read confirmation popup.
