## Overview

Custom workflows allow you to tailor document review, approval, and publishing processes to fit specific business needs. 

You can create a custom workflow in your Confluence space by editing an existing workflow or creating a new workflow.

## Edit an existing workflow

You can create a custom workflow by duplicating and editing any bundled workflow in the app. 

To edit an existing workflow

1. Log in to your Confluence space and go to **Space settings.**
2. Choose **Comala document management** under *App links*.
3. A list of existing workflows is displayed. Click the **Duplicate** icon next to the required workflow to copy and edit it.

4. Enter a unique workflow name in the** Copy workflow **dialog. Click **Submit**.

5. The custom workflow will be created. Click the Edit icon to [edit this workflow](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDMC/pages/2193129621/Workflow+editor?atlOrigin=eyJpIjoiOTk1MTQyMmFiNGJhNDg4NzljZGQyOTc0ZGIxYTc5YjEiLCJwIjoiYyJ9) using the visual or JSON code editor.

## Create a new workflow

To create a new custom workflow

1. Log in to your Confluence space and go to **Space settings.**
2. Choose **Comala document management** under *App links*.
3. Click **Create new workflow**.
  
4. This opens the [visual builder](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDMC/pages/2193162438/Visual+editor?atlOrigin=eyJpIjoiNjY4ZDNlNjIzNTJlNDRlZTg5YjRmNjIzZmZhZDllMGUiLCJwIjoiYyJ9). Enter the details for the new workflow and click **Apply**.
  You can continue using the[ visual builder](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDMC/pages/2193162438/Visual+editor?atlOrigin=eyJpIjoiMzg3MzUwN2M2ZWQ3NDY5ZGFlNmQ2MzY5YTVhMTU0ZGYiLCJwIjoiYyJ9) to add workflow elements or edit the JSON code using the [Code editor](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDMC/pages/2192837873/JSON+code+editor?atlOrigin=eyJpIjoiZWFjYzUyZDVjZjc1NDZiYTk3NWEzYTdlMjA2MzAxYTIiLCJwIjoiYyJ9).
