**Introducing Comala Document Management 7 Data Center ONLY with Document Activity**

**[Comala Document Management 7](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649760182)** is a **Data Center Only release ** and in this release, **Page Activity** will be replaced with our all-new **[Document Activity](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649663381)**[ capability](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649663381).

> ℹ️ You will need to [upgrade your workflow data](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649563983) on existing spaces with an applied workflow to access **Document Activity** capabilities.

**Document Activity** provides:

- better performance and stability
- a new [Document Activity Report](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649891440) with improved filtering and a more intuitive layout
- new [Document Activity REST API](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649791485) to drive your own business insights

The [JAVA API](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649560824) has also been updated to include methods to retrieve document activity information.

> ✅ New spaces will automatically use document activity when a workflow is applied to a document in the space.

To ensure a smooth upgrade, after installing **Comala Document Management 7** you will need to run a pre-upgrade check using the [Document Activity Upgrade console](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649760247) to

- validate your existing **Page Activity**
- estimate the time needed to upgrade your **Page Activity**

You can then use the [Document Activity Upgrade console](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649760247) to upgrade your existing data to use the [document activity capability](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649663381) on a space-by-space basis. The data upgrade process will require your data center site to be put into **Read Only Mode**.

> ℹ️ On installation of Comala Document Management 7.0, existing spaces *without an applied workflow* will automatically use document activity when a workflow is subsequently applied to a document in the space.
