MultiExcerpt v5.6.26 adds an integration with the [Comala Document Management](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/142/comala-document-management?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview) app and compatibility with Comala Document Management [same-space publishing](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649794062). With this integration enabled **in both** the MultiExcerpt app and in Comala Document Management, a **MultiExcerpt Include** macro can recognize the Comala workflow status for a workflow on the MultiExcerpt source document and will only render the latest approved content version generated on the last transition to the workflow’s **[final](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649858126)**[ state](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649858126). When the feature is enabled, a **MultiExcerpt Include** does not include content in a workflow **draft** state. ## Comala Document Management configuration Integration with Appfire Artemis MultiExcerpt requires the Comala Document Management **Published View Macro Transform** configuration to be enabled. > ℹ️ The **Published View Macro Transform** configuration allows an administrator to set which version of content with an applied workflow that Confluence [include](https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/include-page-macro-139514.html) and [excerpt-include](https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/excerpt-include-macro-148067.html) shows. > ℹ️ > ℹ️ When **Published View Macro Transform **is > ℹ️ > ℹ️ - **Enabled** (default) - the include and excerpt-include macros will display the latest approved version of the content (*the version created on the last transition to the workflow final state*) > ℹ️ - **Disabled - **the** **include and excerpt-include macros will display the latest version of the content, whether draft or approved A global admin user can enable the required integration feature in the Comala Document Management [global Configuration dashboard](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649889951). ![image](media://8145d5d9-69d0-4c27-ad38-a1c7b0ec6897) If required, a space administrator can override the global configuration **Published View Macro Transform** on a space-by-space basis in each [space tools Document Management Configuration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649827041) dashboard. The default setting for each space is **Disabled**. ![image](media://aed24005-b520-4035-a2ab-707546900660) ## MultiExcerpt configuration Integration with Comala Document Management requires the MultiExcerpt **Comala Published Version Integration Enabled** configuration to be checked and enabled by a global administrator user. ![image](media://8d4e4e1e-85f5-4548-8d1c-530ed4859e68) Check the checkbox and choose **Update and Save**. ## Viewing Approved Content in a MultiExcerpt-Include With the feature enabled, a **MultiExcerpt Include** only includes approved content (approved using an applied Comala Document Management workflow). > 📝 It is still possible for a **MultiExcerpt Include** to include content from a page that does not use the Comala workflow, even if the feature is enabled. For example, you can have a space that does not use Comala workflow. In that case, the **MultiExcerpt-Include** reverts to regular behavior, which is to include the latest version of the content. ### Viewing pages without approval A page that is in its very early lifecycle might not ever have been approved yet - the applied workflow has not yet been transitioned to the workflow final state. This means that no approved version will exist, and the **MultiExcerpt-Include** macro that includes content from that never-approved page might not render the content. ### Viewing pages without user view permission The default workflow activity and draft content visibility do not allow a user with only view permission to view a page in a draft workflow state. If a user does not have permission to view the draft content, the **MultiExcerpt-Include** macro renders a message alerting the user that they cannot view the content before it is approved. There are no other requirements for this integration except enabling the settings in **BOTH** apps. > 📝 **MultiExcerpt app caching setting** > 📝 > 📝 The integration feature works both with and without **MultiExcerpt-Include** caching. Caching is enabled/disabled globally in the MultiExcerpt administrator tool and disabled per-macro in the MultiExcerpt-Include macro editor.
