This feature allows workflow authors to request that users confirm that they have read certain content. A read confirmation can be added to content as either: - a [standalone read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649827501) on a page without a workflow. - a [workflow read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650218328) for the final state of a workflow. By default, users assigned as readers to a read confirmation will receive notifications for read confirmation events. However, read confirmation notifications can be disabled in [global administration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649530054) for the instance or [space administration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650119000) for a space. ## Standalone read confirmation A [standalone read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649827501) can be added to a page or blog post using the page action menu. ![image](media://eda6cd73-5158-442c-9792-2fbea79ebaef) The read confirmation status icon (double-tick icon) is then displayed in the page header. ![image](media://816c1402-ddfd-4548-8f49-8039343a7fd5) ## Workflow read confirmation When a reviewer makes an approval decision, and the workflow transitions to the final state, a [workflow read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650218328) (if [enabled for the workflow](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649695072)) can be added to the final state (or published) content.  ![cdm_readcon_workflow_rc_onpage.png](media://a98d4ad7-1edd-4030-863b-225d68bf542c) The read confirmation byline breadcrumb is also added to the page footer and contextualized for the current user. If you have been assigned to read a page, the **Confirm** option is displayed at the bottom of the page.  ![image](media://3734f4a4-38d6-46d7-a5e5-9bb15a40a74a) When viewing the page, you can choose **Confirm** to record that you have read the content. ## Assigning users as readers One or more users can be [assigned to read a specific page or blog post](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650252218) and requested to confirm reading the content.  Users can be assigned as readers using the [read confirmation popup](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650218477) accessed through the read confirmation status icon on the page ![image](media://699b7edb-a91f-43c8-83bb-016c07cda0ca) You can use the **Edit readers** ellipsis menu option to search for users and [add or remove users as readers](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650252403). ![image](media://eece6bbd-2c67-4107-8731-127318aa95a9) You can search and select one or more users to add as a reader. ![image](media://632501dc-3613-4604-acf4-17d459acc31e) ## Preassigning readers using an applied workflow In a workflow, an editor or space administrator can edit the [workflow read confirmation configuration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649695072) to add users as readers when a read confirmation is added to the final state.  The [read confirmation status](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649629545) for the content is pending until all assigned users have confirmed. Only the read confirmation for the most recent version that the user confirmed is displayed. ![image](media://63a91318-2378-4c69-b605-69623586a5f1) A [due date](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649860011) can be added for all assigned readers to complete a read confirmation.
