## Overview

<span style="color: #172b4d">The read confirmation dialog box lets you add and remove requested read confirmation readers.</span>

- <span style="color: #172b4d">Choose the read confirmation dialog box three-dot menu</span>
- Select **Edit readers**

## Add a new reader

Use the search box to find a user to add as an additional new reader.

- Choose the checkbox for the displayed new user
- Select **Save** to add the user as a reader (request read confirmation)

Each new reader is added to the read confirmation dialog box.

When a user is added as a reader:

- An email notification is sent (if enabled by an administrator)
- An on-screen message is displayed when the reader views the document

- A read confirmation status message is displayed on the document

The status is contextualized to the user and the current read confirmation status.

 The pending read confirmation assignment is also added to the user profile Read Assignments report.

Adding a new reader does not change any existing due date for the completion of the requested read confirmation.

## Remove a reader

<span style="color: #172b4d">In the read confirmation dialog box:</span>

- <span style="color: #172b4d">Choose the three-dot menu.</span>
- Select **Edit readers**

In the dialog box, choose the user to be removed as a reader.

- Clear the checkbox

- Choose **Save**

The read confirmation dialog box is used with both [standalone read confirmations](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649827501) and [workflow read confirmations](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650218328), including a [workflow with no states](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/650347654).

Requested read confirmations (readers) can also be added or removed in a workflow read confirmation when a workflow editor [enables and configures the read confirmation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDML/pages/649956579) in the workflow.
