The snapshot can then be used to move the project(s) and their issues to a different Jira instance for archiving or project backup while maintaining the issue history, links, ranking, and agile data. ## Create a snapshot of projects with issues 1. Log in as a user with the **Jira System Administrators **[global permission](https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/manage-global-permissions/). 2. Choose the **cog icon **at the top right of the screen, then choose** Configuration Manager**: 3. Select** Snapshots **to open the **Configuration Snapshots** page and click on the **Add Snapshot** button. 4. Select the **Project with Issues** button and enter a name for the snapshot. :info: If a snapshot with that name already exists, you will see a warning. 5. Add projects to the snapshot: - To add all projects from a Jira instance to a snapshot, you can use the** Select all projects** button. - To select projects by listing them by their keys, first type the keys like KEY1, KEY2, KEY3, etc. in the Project(s) field, and then use the **Bulk select by key **button. - To clear the current selection of projects, use the **Clear selected projects** button. 6. You can choose whether to include the attachment files in the snapshot or not. By default, this option is left unchecked. :info: The snapshot always includes the attachment metadata. However, attachment files are not included in the snapshot by default, as the snapshot grows very large. If the attachment files are not included in the snapshot, during the deployment, you will be presented with an option to provide the path where the files reside on the target system. You have three ways to include issues in the snapshot: *All issues*, *Filtered issues*, and *Archived issues*. Under these options, you can find a counter that indicates how many issues will be added to the snapshot based on your selection. - **All issues**: adds all issues in the selected projects, even archived issues. - **Filtered issues**: allows you to enter a JQL query to add only a subset of the issues in the selected projects. This doesn’t include archived issues, since they don’t appear in the Jira issue navigator when a JQL filter is applied. [Read more](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198279862) about filtering issues. - **Archived issues**: adds only the archived issues in the selected projects. > 📝 **Deploy issues to projects with issues** > 📝 > 📝 Issue data can be deployed into projects that already contain issues. In this case, issues are compared based on the issue number. Existing issues are not modified. > 📝 > 📝 *Example*: *Snapshot contains issues with numbers AB-1, AB-2, and AB-3. The target project includes issues AB-1 and AB-2. During the deployment, only issue AB-3 is created; issues AB-1 and AB-2 are skipped.* 8. (Optional) Enter a description for the snapshot. 9. Use the checkboxes at the end to include **project filters**, **project boards**, **project automation** **rules**, and **global automation rules**. 10. Click **Next **to add any additional [filters](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198117100), [agile boards](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198247358), [dashboards](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/197825960), and [apps](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198279999) to the snapshot. 11. If you want to see a preview of the snapshot, click **Next**. 12. Click the **Create **button and wait while the snapshot of your Jira instance configuration is being created. :check_mark: A message will be displayed, confirming that Configuration Manager for Jira has successfully created the snapshot, or if there were any warnings that you may want to review in CMJ's [audit log](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198246829): ![image](media://5e025182-c3a7-4999-82b9-1cc36abb45ae) ## Snapshot options #### Include selected filters When you create project snapshots, on the "Filters" page of the snapshot wizard, you can select [Jira filters](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198117100) to be included in the snapshot so they can be deployed along with the rest of the configuration. #### Include selected agile boards When you create project snapshots, on the "Boards" page of the snapshot wizard, you can select [Jira agile boards](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198247358) to be included in the snapshot so they can be deployed along with the rest of the configuration. #### Include selected dashboards When you create project snapshots, on the "Dashboards" page of the snapshot wizard, you can select [Jira dashboards](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/display/CMJ/Dashboards) to be included in the snapshot so they can be deployed along with the rest of the configuration. #### Include selected apps When you create project snapshots, on the "Apps" page of the snapshot wizard, you can select [Jira app data](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CMJ/pages/198279999) to be included in the snapshot so it can be deployed along with the rest of the configuration.
