## Overview

A workflow parameter is used as a placeholder for the values of the following:

- Due date for approved documents in the Content Expiry workflow
- Approval reviewers and read confirmation readers in the Quality Management System workflow

Using workflow parameters in your workflow lets you add a workflow that can be used for different teams or projects, but with these values set within a space or on a specific document. This lets you use these workflows in different spaces. The values can be set:

- When applying the workflow and prompted by the [workflow setup](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/649630353) dialog box
- By a space administrator in the [app space settings](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/650219355/Space+administration#Editing-workflow-parameter-values), with the values used next time the space workflow is applied to a new document
- By a page editor using the **[Edit Parameters](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/649664512)** option in the page tools menu when the workflow is applied on a page-by-page basis

## Due date parameter

The **Due date parameter** is defined in the [Content Expiry workflow](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/649926643). It is used as a placeholder for the value of the due date set when the workflow transitions to the final state, **Approved**.

When creating a new page with the workflow active as a space workflow, the [workflow setup](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/649630353) dialog box prompts the space administrator to confirm or edit this value.

The due date parameter value used when applying a page workflow can be edited using the [Edit Parameters](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMALACDCLS/pages/649664512) page tools menu option.
