# Overview

The [Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA)](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219672/confluence-cloud-migration-assistant?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview) can transfer spaces, users, groups, and vendor app data to migrate Comala Publishing from a hosted instance.

You can assess and prepare your migration using the CCMA before migration. This includes assessing the apps you need in the cloud and checking their availability and vendor support for migrating the app data. In addition, the assistant helps you review your users and email domains.

# Prerequisites

Several pre-requisite tasks are detailed in the[ Migration to Confluence Cloud](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPCL/pages/646643910) page. These must be undertaken before migration and include:

- Review app functionality and features in the cloud
- Remove page restrictions
- Install the latest app versions

> 📝 We recommend installing the latest version of Comala Publishing for Data Center to support a successful migration to Confluence Cloud.

# Assess and prepare your migration

The **Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant** assesses and prepares your migration.

In Confluence global administration in your Confluence Data Center instance:

- Open the **Migration Assistant**

The **Migration Assistant home** screen takes you through tasks to prepare your migration.

> 📝 If you have previously undertaken a migration, the **Migrations dashboard** is displayed. This lists any previous migrations and their status.

You need to:

## **1. Assess your apps**

Check which vendor apps you need to Confluence Cloud, including their cloud compatibility and availability.

Use the **Decision** menu options to set the apps that are **Needed in cloud**.

## 2. Prepare your apps

Use the assistant to

- **Connect** to the cloud site
- **Install the apps** set as **Needed in cloud**
- **Agree to app migration** to let the assistant migrate the app data

You must also use the **Migration Assistant** to

## 3. Assess and prepare your users

This helps you review and check

- Users and user groups
- All email addresses are valid and unique.

## 4. Review all email domains

You must **Review all email domains** and set them as trusted or blocked.

> ℹ️ Comala Publishing data migration includes user details, such as publishing users.

After you have assessed your apps and prepared them and their users for migration, you can then use the CCMA to migrate selected spaces from your hosted instance to Confluence Cloud.

When you start to migrate using the CCMA, it runs several pre-checks, including app vendor checks for Comala Publishing. These include a verification check that you have included both linked spaces - the source and target spaces.
