Multiple work items can be updated using the **Update issues** post function in two scenarios:

- When you know which work items to update.
- When the conditions or JQL provided fetch multiple work items, as mentioned in [Use JQL to find issues to update](https://appfire.atlassian.net/l/cp/HXt16bUx).

## Steps

1. Sign in to your Jira instance as a Jira administrator or a Workflow administrator.
2. In the top navigation bar, select **Set**t**ings**> **Work items**.
3. In the left sidebar of the *Work items* page, select **Workflows**.
4. Select a workflow.
5. In the **Actions **column, click ellipses :ellipsis: > **Edit **on your workflow to create a draft version.
6. In the **Transitions (id)** column, select a transition.  
The selected *Transition* page is displayed.
7. Go to the *Post Functions* tab, click** Add post function**.
8. On the *Add Post Function To Transition* page, Select **Update issues (Create on Transition)** post function and click **Add**.
9. On the *Issues Field* page, go to the *Detailed fields* tab.
10. In the **Issues to update **field, select the work items you want to update.
11. Select the other values as required to update the selected work items accordingly.
12. Click **Add**.  
You are navigated back to the *Transition* page.
13. Click **Publish draft** to publish your workflow.  
The selected work items are updated with the fields that you have provided.

> ℹ️ When you click **Publish draft**, you will be prompted to save a backup of the previous workflow, and it is recommended to save a backup of the previous workflow.
