## Overview

Dashboards provide a view of data in the form of metrics and indicators, often intended for a specific audience, such as an engineering team, a leadership board, or a technical support department. You can use dynamic filters to refine the data displayed on your dashboard to highlight different metrics and indicators for different contexts.

## Dynamic filters bar

To use dynamic filters, in the top bar of the dashboard, click **Filters** to open the *Dynamic Filter *bar.

### Available filters

Dynamic filters apply to Jira gadgets. The quick filter options include **Projects**, **Work Item Types**, **Status**, **Assignee**, and **Created Date**. Click the **More** button to select one of the additional options: **Request Type**, **Reporter**, **Labels**, **Updated**, **Due Date**, or **Resolution Date**.
You can also use the free text, **Contains text** field to filter results for text matches.

> ℹ️ The **Contains text **option only returns matches for the **Summary** and **Key** fields.

Gadgets that contain filtered data are highlighted in a blue border. If the gadget doesn’t have matching data, it will display the message, `No data to show`.

The number of filters applied to the dashboard is displayed on the **Filters** button. In the example below, two filters are selected. To clear all filters, click **Clear**.

> ℹ️ The values of the fields in the Dynamic Filter bar depend on the data loaded in the dashboard to avoid data leaks and improve performance.

### Individual filtered gadgets

The selected filters apply to all relevant gadgets. To manage the filter for each gadget, hover the pointer over the gadget name to display the filter toggle, then toggle the filter on or off. When a filter is on, the [filtered] status is displayed. If you disable it, the content of that gadget won’t be affected by the selected filters.
