To assess your project's performance over time, you can set Baselines and track deviations from your initial schedule. 

The Baselines can be synchronized with Jira ([baseline fields](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=dlpdraft&title=NEW%20Baseline%20start%2Fend%20date%20fields&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2024292623) require Jira Admin permissions), and the synced fields can be added to column views or as fields to the task/risk Cards.

You can create and delete baselines for all the tasks in the box's scope or for selected tasks only. They appear as bold lines, showing the task's position when you create the baseline.

## Baseline versioning

> ℹ️ Baseline versioning is available only in BigPicture Enterprise.

You can have only one current baseline for a specific task, but you can create up to 20 baseline history records per box to compare with the current one or to restore it. A baseline history record is a snapshot of all baselines set in a box—the start and end date of each baseline and any tasks without a baseline. Keeping multiple baseline versions can help you compare planning objectives that may have changed during a project: you can compare the first scheduled plan with the next accepted changes and the current plan.

You can create and delete Baselines for all the tasks in the box's scope or for selected tasks only.

## Viewing baselines

To display Baselines on the timeline, go to **View** > **Show** > **Baselines**.

## Baseline fields in column views and task/risk cards

You can store tasks' baselines as a date picker or date/time picker field type. Because you can connect with different tools, we recommend using the built-in **Baseline Start date** and **Baseline End date** fields to show baselines from all connected platforms in a single column.

## Create/Delet task baselines

### Task baseline creation

Once your schedule is ready, you can create a baseline schedule or, in other words, baselines for all tasks shown in the task list/hierarchy. Alternatively, you can create a baseline by editing the synchronized fields directly.

#### Create/delete baselines for all work items

To create baselines for all items in a box, go to **Data** > **Baselines** > **New baseline**.

If you have already created baselines, the **Delete** option is added to the dropdown menu.

#### Create/delete a baseline for a single work item

To create or delete a baseline for a selected task or tasks only, **right-click** the task or use the **slider menu** that appears when you select the task. Select **Baseline** > **Create for** > **This task**.

When you create a baseline, the **Delete for **>** This task** option is added to the dropdown menu.

#### Create/delete a baseline for a single work item and all its children

To create or delete a baseline for a selected task and all its child items, **right-click** the task or use the **slider menu** that appears when you select the task. Select **Baseline** > **Create for** > **This task** **and its children**.

To delete baselines, select **Delete for **>** This task and its children** to remove baselines from the selected parent and children.
