This article will walk you through the process of configuring the *Easy Numbered Heading* application. You can configure the application in the following levels:


> ℹ️ ## Global Level Configuration

The Global Configuration applies to all spaces. To change the application configuration, go to ***Manage Apps →  User-installed apps →  Easy Numbered Heading →  Configure***. The configuration page for the *Easy Numbered Heading* application is displayed. 

The following is the configuration parameters table:

### Automatic Numbering 

This option allows you to select whether numbering is enabled or disabled by default on new pages. The setting can be overridden for each space, to change go to ***Space Settings → Content Tools***. 

| **Parameter** | **Default** | **Description** |

| *Mode* | *Automatic, but requires initial user action to enable on each page.* | Select the type of default numbering on a new page from the drop-down menu. The following are the available options:<br>- *Disabled.*
- *Manual, bulk processor updates numbering on pages that already have it.*
- *Manual, bulk processor applies numbering to all pages that haven’t been explicitly disabled.*
- *Automatic, but requires initial user action to enable on each page.*
- *Automatic, enabled for all pages by default.* |

| **Mode** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| *Disabled.* | The numbering option is not displayed.<br>> ℹ️ The heading number is not removed from the previously numbered page(s). If you want to remove the numbering, you must first enable it and then remove it from the page(s), or you can delete the heading number manually. |
| *Manual, bulk processor updates numbering on pages that already have it.* | The bulk processor updates numbering to page(s) that already have the numbering option enabled.<br>> ℹ️ Use the *Bulk Page Updater *option to update the pages in bulk. |
| *Manual, bulk processor applies numbering to all pages that haven’t been explicitly disabled.* | The heading number is applied to all pages irrespective of whether the numbering option is enabled or disabled.<br>> ℹ️ Use the *Bulk Page Updater *option to update the pages in bulk. |
| *Automatic, but requires initial user action to enable on each page.* | Based on the user's action, the heading number is enabled. The numbering option is disabled by default and must be enabled on the page(s) you want to number. |
| *Automatic, enabled for all pages by default.* | Based on the user's action, the heading number is disabled. The heading number is enabled by default on all pages.<br>You can disable numbering on the page(s) you don't want to be numbered. |

> ℹ️ To apply or update or remove numbering, manual mode requires user action, whereas automatic mode processes each page immediately whenever the page is created or a new version is stored.
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ The existing page(s) are not changed when you switch to automatic mode. You can either manually update the existing page(s) or use the *bulk page updater*.

#### Bulk Page Updater

> ℹ️ You must be an admin to use *Bulk Page Updater* option.

To update the existing page(s) with numbered headings perform the following:

1. Click the *bulk page updater* (or) click the **Bulk Update **button. The Bulk Page Update for Easy Numbered Headings page is displayed.
2. Select the space from the drop-down list.
3. The table with the list of page details from the selected space is displayed. Click the **Update pages** button.
4. You can view the *Status* column of the table is updated and the *Message* column displays the number of heading updated.
5. (Optional) Click the **Load next report** button to bulk update pages from another space.

### Formatting

This option allows you to choose the format of the heading style. 

The following table provides you with information about the heading styles:

> ℹ️ To reset the default values, click the **Set default **button.


> ℹ️ ## Space Level Configuration

The Space level configuration applies to a particular space that you have selected. This level configuration overrides the Global Configuration.

To configure a space level, perform the following:

1. Go to ***Space Settings → Manage content  → Easy Numbered Heading. ***The *Manage Pages* page is displayed.
2. Under *Settings for this space*, check the *Use custom space configuration *checkbox. The space level configuration is activated.
3. Make the necessary configuration changes at the space level and click **Save**.
