This procedure explains how to electronically sign issues in Jira Cloud using the Electronic Signatures app. Signing an issue creates a secure, auditable record that meets 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements.

## Prerequisites

Before you can sign issues, ensure that:

- Electronic Signatures for Jira Cloud is installed and configured.
- Your email notification settings are properly configured to receive PIN codes.
- You have the necessary permissions to view and edit the relevant issues.

## Procedure

1. In your Jira Cloud instance, open the issue you need to sign.
2. To access the signature interface, select **E-Signatures** in one of the following ways:

3. The *E-Signatures* window opens, displaying signature fields.
4. In the **Meaning** field, provide some context for the purpose of the signature by entering a description for why it was required. Maximum description length is 250 characters.
5. To obtain your PIN, click **Send PIN**.
6. Check your email for the PIN code delivery. The body of the email message contains the PIN code as shown in the screenshot below.

> ℹ️ For enhanced security, PIN codes are unique for each signature event.

5. Go back to the *E-Signatures* window and insert the PIN code you received.
6. Click **Sign **and wait for the page to refresh.  
All signatures created for the current issue display in the E-Signatures panel in the main body of the issue.
