Before using the DORA metrics, you must:

1. Set up git tags in your git hosts and decide how to categorize and collect incidents in your ticket vendor.
2. Configure [deployments](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FD/pages/1802076440) and [incidents](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FD/pages/1802633489) for your organization in Flow so the metrics are calculated correctly.

Deployment configuration is needed for all four DORA metrics. Incident configuration is required for Change failure rate and Time to restore service.
