# Overview

This guide covers installation instructions and other administrative features and functions (where relevant) that are available within the [Graphviz Diagrams for Confluence](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GVIZ) app.

# Required software

The *Graphviz for Confluence* macros require the [Graphviz software](http://www.graphviz.org/) package is installed on the Confluence server. See [Install data center](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GVIZ/pages/70222431).

# <span style="color: #000000">Installation</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Log into your Confluence instance as an administrator.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Click the cog wheel and choose </span>*<span style="color: #000000">Manage apps</span>*<span style="color: #000000">. </span><span style="color: #000000">The </span>*<span style="color: #000000">Manage apps</span>*<span style="color: #000000"> screen loads.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Locate </span>*<span style="color: #000000">Graphviz for Confluence</span>*<span style="color: #000000">, or click </span>*<span style="color: #000000">Find new apps</span>*<span style="color: #000000"> from the left-hand side of the page and search for the app</span><span style="color: #000000">. </span><span style="color: #000000">The appropriate app version appears in the search results.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Try free</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> to begin a new trial or </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Buy now</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> to purchase a license for</span><span style="color: #000000"> </span>*<span style="color: #000000">Graphviz</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> for Confluence</span>*<span style="color: #000000">. </span><span style="color: #000000">You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian.</span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">Enter your information and click </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Generate license</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> when redirected to MyAtlassian.</span>
6. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Apply license</span>**<span style="color: #000000">. </span><span style="color: #000000">If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Confluence instance.</span>
