The Reopened Counter Custom Field calculates the number of times an issue has been resolved and then reopened so far. This is based on the resolution field, which needs to be changed from a value to EMPTY.

This custom field helps in identifying how often resolved issues are reopened for further work or reevaluation. It enables teams to monitor the number of times an issue requires additional attention after it has been marked as resolved.

### To create a Reopened Counter Custom Field, follow these steps:

7. Navigate to **Apps** > **Enhancer Plugin for Jira** > **Custom Field Configuration**.
8. Click the **Add New JEP Custom Field** button.
9. Click the **Counter** tab on the left-hand side of the dialogue.
10. Select **Reopened Counter**, then click **Add custom field**.
11. <span style="color: #000000">Fill in the dialog box:</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">Create a </span><span style="color: #000000">**name**</span><span style="color: #000000"> for the custom field.</span>
12. Click the **Save custom field** button to create the custom field. The custom field will now appear in the issue view:

Once created, the Reopened Counter Custom Field can be used for sorting and searching in the issue navigator, allowing you to filter and find issues based on how many times they’ve been reopened.

> ℹ️ **Remember to add this custom field to the appropriate screens so that it can be visible and accessible when working with issues.** If you don’t know how, check out the [Jira documentation](https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-a-custom-field-to-a-screen/).

> ℹ️ It's important to note that for new or updated issues after creating this custom field, the custom field values will automatically update correctly. However, for existing issues, **it's necessary to ****[regenerate the issue](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JEPC/pages/11338384)** in order to see the correct values associated with the Reopened Counter Custom Field.
