# Scenario
Number the heading in your project documentation using* Numbered Headings*.
## Steps
The following steps demonstrate how to Number the heading in your project documentation using* Numbered Headings*:

**Select Number Headings **
1. Navigate to the project document page where you want to add the heading numbers.
2. Click :NH2:. The *Page numbering* options are displayed. |  |

**Customize the heading**
1. Choose the numbering format from the *Number format* drop-down menu. In this example, we choose *Decimal* as the number format for our document.
2. (Optional) Specify the heading number to start from the* Starting heading *drop-down menu. In this example, we choose h2.
3. (Optional) Specify the heading to skip from the* Skip headings *drop-down menu. In this example, we choose h4.
4. Click **Save**. |  |

**Publish the page**
A warning message is displayed, and once the heading number is added an information message is displayed.
Then, refresh the page, the heading number is displayed. |  |
