This page outlines the steps to migrate your Page Approval data from Confluence Data Center to Confluence Cloud.

## Pre-work

Before you start, read, review, and understand the [macro differences and feature differences](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PADCD/pages/2207515166) between the Page Approval for Confluence Data Center and Confluence Cloud

You also need to be aware of the following limitations and take the suggested actions if needed.

### Page macros

> ⚠️ The [Page Approval Report](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=pafs&title=Page%20Approval%20Report&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2214953111) is an unsupported macro. The macro is migrated, but it is not available in Confluence Cloud.

> ⚠️ The [Page Acknowledgement Report](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=pafs&title=Page%20Acknowledgement%20Report&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2214953111) is an unsupported macro. Although it has been migrated, it is not available in Confluence Cloud.

> ⚠️ The[ Page Approval](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=pafs&title=Page%20Approval&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2214953111) macro can be migrated, but it is a readonly macro in Confluence Cloud.

### Page approval status

The page approval status can be migrated successfully to the Page Approval Cloud app:

- If the page in the hosted instance is not approved, the page status shown post-migration is **Request Approval**
- If the page in the hosted instance is approved, the page status shown post-migration is **Approved**

> ℹ️ To set a page to **approved** status, a user must manually start a new approval request by selecting the page status panel.

### Migration

Perform a test migration to understand the steps required to migrate data and reconfigure it.

> ℹ️ Before migrating from the Data Center to the Cloud, page restrictions must be removed from all pages that use **Page Approvals**.

> ℹ️ This guide assumes you have successfully migrated your Confluence Data Center data into Confluence Cloud, detailed in Atlassian's [Cloud Migration Guide](https://www.atlassian.com/migration/cloud/guide/introduction/overview).

## Guide

At the end of this guide, you will have: 

- Upgraded [Page Approval for Confluence Data Center](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PAFS) to version 5.3.1 or above
- Prepared the Page Approval for the Confluence Server data on the server
- Performed migration using the Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration tool
- Checked and reconfigured the [Page Approval for Confluence Cloud](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PAFC) data in the cloud

Depending on the size of your Confluence data, this process can take a few hours to complete.  

### Step 1 - Proceeding with Cloud migration

Follow through with the steps in [Step 1 - Proceeding with Cloud migration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PADCD/pages/2207678677)

**Overview**

- Prepare a set of test data and a staging instance to perform a pre-migration environment test before production migration [OPTIONAL]
- Upgraded Page Approval for Confluence to version 5.3.1 or above
- Find and identify the spaces that are using the Page Approval macros
- Perform the migration using the Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant(CCMA) tool
- Schedule the migration window

- Identify the supported and unsupported Page Approval macros in a cloud environment
