> Set up your information radiator: A wallboard

## Overview

A dashboard panel is a powerful resource in your daily routine, but it is also useful to so many others because it acts as an information radiator; critical, up-to-date information for your team, located where the team can see it, often on a large screen or TV.

> 📝 Information radiator is a term coined by Alistair Cockburn to describe an information display that ‘radiates’ out information.
> 📝
> 📝 It’s visible to everyone, is updated regularly, and displays key metrics, especially critical information that Agile teams rely on.

## Wallboard mode

Wallboard mode is the default view that users have when accessing a dashboard using a public link. It’s optimized for large screens or TVs, where the main differences from the normal dashboard view are:

- Dark mode is enabled by default, although you can disable it. It reduces the impact on the eyesight and **i**mproves the visual ergonomics.
- To maximise space for important information, there’s no top Jira menu bar.
- There are no options to edit the dashboard or the slide, but you can still control the slideshow to pause/play or move to the next/previous slide.
- You can view the dashboard in full screen.

## How to set up a wallboard

Wallboard mode is the default mode when you share a dashboard publicly. To create a public link:

1. Click the **Share** button.
2. Enable the **Public Link** toggle and copy the URL.
3. Use this link to display your wallboard. Please note that anyone with access to that link can view the dashboard content.
