About worklog custom values

*Rich Filters::Time Tracking Dashboards* allows you to define custom values based on work logs (called w*orklog custom values*). You can define custom values using *Worklog Time Spent* as the base value. You can also use [WQL queries](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RFTT/pages/803012930) to further refine the scope of the custom values. Check the [key concepts](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RFTT/pages/803012890) page to learn how the filtering and grouping based on work log attributes work.

Once defined, the *worklog custom values* can be used in any gadget that accepts custom values. Below is an example of a Rich Filter Results gadget that shows the time spent on each issue by a period of time.

**Use worklog custom values in Time series**

You can also use Worklog custom values in **Time series **– if you are unsure how Rich Filters::Time Tracking Dashboards allows you to define time series based on worklogs, you should check our [extending the time series](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RFTT/pages/803012861) section.

Once defined, you can select a worklog** Custom value** as the **Base value** in any time series based on the *Worklog Date ***Series**.

![creating time series based on custom values](media://bb0f54a9-629f-4174-86cb-814dd672b37b)

The value type of the time series based on worklogs is automatically inherited from the custom value.

Time series based on *worklog custom values* can be displayed, like any other time series, as tables with the *Rich Filter Statistics* gadget or as line charts with the *Rich Filter Time Series Chart* gadget.
