When you have the required governance permissions, the **Risk management** panel shows a **Risk Manager next action** card. The card indicates what the risk needs next and provides the relevant action.

The action changes according to the risk's lifecycle status and whether the information required to proceed is complete.

| **Status** | **Card** | **Readiness** | **Action** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Identified | Ready for evaluation? | Risk owner assigned | **Begin evaluation** |
| Evaluation (non-Retain) | Ready for treatment? | Inherent score, treatment decision, Target score, and at least one linked Risk Treatment Plan (RTP) | **Approve RTP and start treatment** / **Start treatment** |
| Evaluation (Retain) | Ready to retain? | Inherent score, retain decision, and review schedule | **Approve Retain decision** |
| Re-evaluation | Ready to restart treatment? | Same requirements as Evaluation, plus signal funnel information | **Approve and restart treatment** |
| Monitoring | Review due | Next review date set | **Update the review dates** |

For example, when a risk in **Monitoring** is overdue for review, the card displays **Review due** and prompts the Risk Manager to review the risk and update the next review date.

### Accepting approval modes

When a risk owner proposes approval modes for Current score or the RTP, the **Risk Manager next action** card can provide actions to accept those modes.

Depending on the risk, these can include:

- **Accept Current Score Approval Mode**
- **Accept RTP Approval Mode** for Dynamic risks

You can accept the proposed mode or select a less autonomous mode. You cannot grant more autonomy than the risk owner proposed.

Accepting the approval mode and starting treatment also approves linked RTPs that are in Draft status.

## Changes outside accepted boundaries

Signal-driven changes that exceed the accepted approval boundaries are not applied automatically.

> ℹ️ For example, if a new Current score estimate exceeds an accepted scoring boundary, LiveRisk surfaces a **re-evaluation recommendation** instead of automatically changing the risk's score or lifecycle status.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The Risk Manager can then review the change and take the appropriate governance action.
