LiveRisk uses Jira space roles to give users the access they need to work with and manage a risk register.

The LiveRisk roles available in a space are:

- **LiveRisk Manager**: for users who perform LiveRisk management and governance activities.
- **LiveRisk Analyst**: for users who perform risk-management and governance activities without space-administration access.
- **LiveRisk Service**: used by LiveRisk for app operations and automation.

> ℹ️ Access to individual LiveRisk features is ultimately controlled by Jira permissions. The roles provide the standard permission assignments used by LiveRisk.

## Assign a role

To assign Jira users to LiveRisk roles: 

1. Open the Jira space that contains the risk register.
2. In the left-hand panel, click **More actions** next to the space name, then select **Space settings**.
3. Click **People**.
4. To change an existing member's role, find the user and update their **Role**.
5. To add someone new, click **Add people**, enter their name, and assign the appropriate LiveRisk role.

A user can be assigned to more than one role when needed.

> ℹ️ The **Risk Owner** responsibility isn't assigned from the space's **People** settings. Risk owners are assigned to individual risk work items and are responsible for assessing and managing those risks.
