Click **Import assets** to create or update assets in bulk using a CSV or JSON package.

![Appfire LiveRisk, Import assets pop-up.](media://bf23d8c2-7ca4-4a13-a324-29ccfcaae227)

You can:

- upload a CSV or JSON asset package,
- download CSV or JSON package templates,
- download a sample package, or
- export existing assets.

When exporting, you can export all assets or, when available, only the assets matching the current filters.

If part of an import fails, LiveRisk automatically retries the failed import chunk. While recovery is in progress, the import can display **Retrying after an error** or **Import still running**. Wait for the import to finish before starting another import.

### Import asset data

An import can include asset details such as name and hierarchy, owner, asset type, maximum impact, data classification, environment, labels, description, asset profile, Jira space, and Signal Group mappings.

- Use **externalKey** to identify an asset across repeated imports. This allows later imports to update an existing asset instead of creating a duplicate.
- Use **parentExternalKey** to place an asset beneath another asset in the hierarchy. Leave it empty for a top-level asset.
- Optional fields that are left empty do not overwrite existing values when updating an asset.

LiveRisk does not apply any changes until you review and confirm the import.
