Use this guide to configure Resolver for your organization and projects.

## Who should use this guide

This guide is for:

- **Owners (organization administrators)**, who manage users, permissions, connections, AI settings, billing, and project mappings.
- **Admins (project administrators)** configure repositories, knowledge sources, indexing, memory banks, and space-specific AI settings.

## Understand the administration levels

Resolver has two administration levels:

### Owners

Owners are organization-level administrators who have access to all settings for the entire organization.

### Admins

Admins are project-level administrators with control over the knowledge and configuration used by a specific Resolver space.

Refer to the table below for a comparison of [permissions](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3293446483); use the Permission links for more information on configuration options.

## Recommended setup sequence

### 1. Configure your organization

Start by completing the organization-level setup.

Review these pages:

- Manage organizations
- Invite users
- Roles and permissions
- Configure connections
- Map Jira projects to Resolver projects
- AI model configuration
- Billing and plans

During this step, you'll:

- Create or manage organizations
- Add users and assign roles
- Connect Jira, GitHub, Bitbucket, and other supported systems
- Create Resolver projects
- Map Jira projects to Resolver projects
- Configure organization-wide AI settings
- Set up billing and subscriptions

### 2. Configure your spaces

After the organization is configured, set up the spaces that Resolver will use.

Review these pages:

- Configure project knowledge
- AI model configuration for Spaces

During this step, you'll:

- Connect repositories
- Add knowledge sources such as Confluence content
- Run knowledge indexing
- Monitor indexing status
- Create memory banks
- Override AI settings for a specific space when needed

### 3. Verify the developer workflow

After setup is complete, developers should be able to:

1. Open a Jira issue mapped to a Resolver project.
2. Launch Resolver from the issue.
3. Select a repository and target branch.
4. Generate a plan.
5. Review the generated plan.
6. Execute the plan and create a pull request.
7. Review and iterate on the generated code.

## Next steps

Once administration is complete, continue with the **Developer guide** to learn how developers use Resolver to generate plans, execute work, review pull requests, and iterate on generated code.
