Developers and other Jira users who are not site administrators do not need to configure Appfire QueueZero before using it. Your QueueZero organization owner, organization admins, and space admins manage the required setup and access.

As a developer, you can use QueueZero in two ways:

- **From the QueueZero standalone app** — Open a QueueZero space and resolve a work item from there.
- **From Jira connector app** — Open a Jira work item and use the QueueZero panel to resolve it.

This page explains how to get started in Jira. For the workflow in the QueueZero app, see [Resolve a work item](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3159621711).

## Video overview

## Before you begin

Before you can use QueueZero from Jira, your organization and space must be ready.

Depending on your setup, the following may already have been completed by a Jira admin, organization admin, or space admin:

- The Jira site is connected to QueueZero.
- Your QueueZero account is linked to your Jira account.
- The organization has an active trial or subscription.
- The Jira work is connected to a QueueZero Space.
- You are a member of that Space.
- At least one repository is connected to the Space.

If something is missing, QueueZero tells you what needs to be completed and, when applicable, who can complete it.

## Step 1: Open a work item in QueueZero

Open your space in QueueZero, then open the work item you want to resolve. Use the search and filters to locate the work item you want to resolve.

## Step 2: Start a resolution

1. From the work item view, click **Resolve**.
QueueZero reviews the work item and uses available repository and knowledge-source context to prepare the resolution.
2. Review the repositories and settings QueueZero recommends.
If the recommended configuration is correct, select **Start resolution**.
To change the repository, branch, or other resolution settings before starting, select **Adjust settings**.

If QueueZero determines that the work item needs more information, it may recommend refining the ticket before continuing. You can refine the work item or select **Skip ticket refinement** to continue with the resolution.

See [Generate the implementation plan](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3158507969) for details about repository selection, resolution settings, and workflow options.

## Step 3: Let QueueZero resolve the work item

**[Single-shot mode](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3166273540)** is enabled by default.

With Single-shot mode enabled, QueueZero:

1. Generates the implementation plan.
2. Executes the plan automatically.
3. Creates a pull request with the resulting changes.

You can follow the resolution from the **Execution** tab.

If you want to review the implementation plan before QueueZero writes code, turn off **Single-shot mode**. Select **Adjust settings** to adjust the QueueZero workflow used and to choose how QueueZero handles CI/CD failures.

QueueZero will then pause after generating the plan so you can review it before selecting **Execute plan**.

See [Review the plan](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3158213589) for information about reviewing a generated implementation plan.

## Step 4: Review the results

While QueueZero is working, open the **Execution** tab to follow its progress.

When the resolution is complete, the Overview section includes a link to the pull request QueueZero created. The Execution tab includes execution details.

Review the pull request and any code-review findings before merging the changes.

See [Execution and single-shot resolution](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RS/pages/3166273540) for more information about execution progress, code review, and completed resolutions.
