# Update your Scaffolding Data Center app

We recommend updating your Scaffolding Data Center app to the latest version.

The minimum required version for Scaffolding data migration is:

- version 8.30.0 for Confluence 7 or 8
- version 9.1.0 for Confluence 9

1. Select **Administration **( ⚙️ )** **> **Manage apps**.
2. Search for `Scaffolding`.
3. Update the app.

# Install or update the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant app

We recommend using the latest version of the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant app.

1. Read [https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/what-is-confluence-cloud-migration-assistant/](https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/what-is-confluence-cloud-migration-assistant/) .
2. Follow the instructions to [https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/update-or-install-the-confluence-cloud-migration-assistant/](https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/update-or-install-the-confluence-cloud-migration-assistant/) .

# (Optional) Enable logs for Scaffolding data migration

Scaffolding includes a logging feature that can be useful for tracking the start, progress, and completion of migration events. The migration logs can also help with debugging if a problem occurs during the migration process.

# (Optional) Create a staging Confluence Data Center instance

> ✅ This is a recommended best practice step. You can use the staging instance to prepare your Scaffolding data for migration.

1. Create a [staging environment](https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/create-a-staging-environment-for-upgrading-confluence-866094180.html) licensed by a [developer license](https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-to-get-a-confluence-developer-license-152044449.html).
2. Create a snapshot of the current Confluence Data Center instance and clone it for the staging instance.

# Create your Confluence Cloud site

If you haven’t already done so, sign up for your cloud site. Decide whether you want to conduct your test on a trial site or a production site. For details, see [Test your migration to cloud](https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/test-your-server-to-cloud-migration/#Step-2--Sign-up-for-your-Cloud-site).

# Install the Scaffolding Cloud app

Install your Confluence Cloud with [Scaffolding Cloud](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/190/scaffolding-forms-templates?hosting=cloud&tab=overview).

# Schedule the migration window

> ✅ This is a recommended best practice step. Depending on the size of the data and the complexity of the existing template configuration, it might take a few hours to complete these steps.

To estimate the time you will need for the migration steps, we recommend reviewing all of the steps before executing.
