Use the User list field within the Scaffolding - Field Group macro to create a dropdown list for selecting one or more users from specific Confluence user groups. This feature is ideal for assigning responsibilities, tracking contributors, or managing access.

## Add a user dropdown list to a page

To add a dropdown list of users to a Confluence page, insert the Scaffolding - Field Group macro and include the User list field within it.

1. Open the page in edit mode.
2. Click the location where you want to add the user list.
For example, click an empty cell in a table.
3. From the Confluence toolbar, select **Insert elements / **() > **View more**.
4. In the *Browse *dialog, search for `Scaffolding`, select **Scaffolding - Field Group**, and click **Insert**.
The *Insert Scaffolding - Field Group macro*** **dialog appears with the available fields.
5. From the *Add fields* section on the left, drag the **User list **field into the macro editor on the right.
6. Select the newly added User list field and click **Edit **(:edit-pencil:) to open its *Field settings* on the left.
7. In the *Field Settings* section, select one or more groups from the **User Groups** dropdown list to include their members in your dropdown list.
8. If you want to allow selection of more than one user, select the **Allow Multiple** check box.
9. If you want to make the dropdown list mandatory before saving changes, select the **Required** check box.
10. Click **Insert **to add the macro with the user dropdown list to the page.
11. Complete your edits and publish or update the page.

## Select a user from a dropdown list

As a user with edit permission for the page, you can select a user from the Scaffolding user dropdown list.

1. Open the page in view mode.
2. Locate the Field Group macro with the User list field and click **Edit content **in the top-right corner.
The *Select users* dropdown field opens in edit content mode.
3. Select one or more users from the **Select users** dropdown list.

> ℹ️ You can select more than one user only if the field is configured to allow multiple selections.

4. To save your user selection, click **Publish **in the top-right corner of the macro.

> ℹ️ If the field is required, you cannot publish or save its content without selecting a user.

## Differences between the Scaffolding Cloud and Scaffolding Data Center

In Scaffolding for Confluence Cloud, to create a user dropdown list, you use the corresponding field in the Scaffolding - Field Group macro.

> ℹ️ In Scaffolding for Confluence Data Center, to create a user dropdown list, you use the [User List ](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SCAFC/pages/477463915)and [User Options](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SCAFS/pages/477600103) macros.
