## Overview

You may experience slow performance when editing Confluence pages that contain a large amount of text (e.g., about 10,000 words, equivalent to 20 printed pages).

You may only need to edit certain sections on those pages regularly. In these cases, you can improve load times and server performance by using the Data Section macro.

> ✅ The [Data Section](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SCAFS/pages/477599930) macro lets you specify sections of the page that you can edit separately without loading the entire page.

This example demonstrates how to add Data Section macros to a large *Terms of Service (TOS)* page. This will allow you to edit only those specific sections in the future quickly.

## Guide

1. Determine which sections will be edited often. For this *Terms of Service* page example, we are interested in editing these two sections on a regular basis:
  - *Introductory *paragraph - contains a date that needs to be updated often.
  - *Payments *section - the payment terms change quite regularly. So, new and existing users must have updated info.
2. Edit the page you are interested in. For this example, we will edit the *Terms of Service* page.

3. Locate the sections that will be edited often.
4. Insert a [Data Section](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SCAFS/pages/477599930) macro above the section.

> ✅ You can optionally update the **What did you change?** box and enable **Notify watchers**.

The *Edit Section* button is shown above every section you added.

8. Click **Edit Section** to make any changes to the section’s content.
