Click to expand the guide ## Overview The taskbars on the [Gantt timeline](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918701893) (Gantt chart) represent your project work items (for example, epics, Jira issues, and [basic tasks](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918405930)). Each taskbar can immediately provide you with the following information: - task start/end dates - color (by default, the color is based on the task status) ![Gantt chart taskbars.](media://8565266a-7fc1-4f43-a5fe-4fb78fcb35f4) If the task is scheduled or partially scheduled (it has only a start or end date), it will be visualized as a taskbar on the Gantt timeline. - The beginning of the taskbar marks the start date. - The end of the taskbar marks the end date. - If the start/end date is not defined, the relevant side of the taskbar is faded. If you cannot see the exact date,[ zoom in](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918701893/Timeline+Gantt+chart#Zoom-in%2Fout) on the timeline or [snipe to its start/end date](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918701893/Timeline+Gantt+chart#Snipe-to-task-start%2Fend-date). You can add an additional layer of information to the Gantt timeline by selecting the relevant option from: ![Menu options related to the Gantt taskbars.](media://6ef00be1-2a0e-4a02-bd4d-7477f4a8ef09) - **View** - **Taskbar** - **Dependencies** ## View (option) 1. Click the **View** option. 2. From the menu, check one or several options: - **Baselines** - **Period warnings** - **Progress** - **Critical path** - **Overdue** ### [Baselines](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918404564) If you have baselines created for your tasks, they can be displayed as horizontal lines under the taskbars. ![A baseline under a taskbar.](media://cee75553-2067-490f-94d5-7a4c48c79a75) ### [Period warnings](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918832897) The **Period warnings **option adds a yellow overlay to the taskbar to indicate a mismatch between the task's period and that of the child or parent task. ![Period warning on the taskbar.](media://307c7c32-5f26-458a-ac2c-1c987ca17ab5) ### Progress The taskbar color gradually fills up as its progress advances. ![Progress on the taskbar.](media://2740b3df-9abb-4ad7-838a-700caa38272a) ### [Critical path](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918405060) If you have created dependencies between the tasks, this option will change the color of the tasks on the critical path to red stripes. ![Taskbar on the critical path.](media://10caa146-b60c-417d-aa13-d3f656d7de27) ### [Overdue](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918537803) Enable this option to see tasks that were not completed on their due date. Click the **Taskbar** option. 2. From the menu, check one or several options: ### Label position The **Label position** determines where the task summary will be placed in relation to the taskbar. The task label can consist of the Key and/or Summary field values. > ๐Ÿ“ You must first check the **Key** and/or **Summary** in the **Show** options. - Hidden (Removes the label leaving the taskbar blank (but still colored). - On taskbar (displays the label on the taskbar. If the label is longer than the taskbar, the label is truncated) - Next to taskbar (displays the label on the right side next to the taskbar) - Smart labeling (displays summary on or next to the taskbar depending on whether the summary exceeds the taskbar length) ### Show The **Show** options add more info on/next to the taskbar. - Key [taskbar label] - Summary [taskbar label] - Other scope info (adds an indication on the taskbar when a task is in the scope of multiple boxes) > โœ… This taskbar indication applies only to boxes of the **Own** [scope type](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918766536). > โœ… > โœ… If a task is in the scope of a sub-box, it belongs to multiple boxes but not multiple Own-scope boxes. > โœ… > โœ… ![An icon indicating the task is in the scope of multiple boxes.](media://86aad27c-ca05-46da-bd98-fa7a599c93c1) - Dates - Assignee (adds the assignee avatar/icon) - Priority (displays the priority icon taken from the built-in Priority field on the left side next to the taskbar) - [Scheduling mode](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918831395) (displays the scheduling mode icon on the left side next to the taskbar) - [Notes](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/2372665547) ### [Task color](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918636160) Colors the taskbar by its status or by manually selected colors) ## [Dependencies](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918536086) (option) The **Dependencies** button controls the visibility of the dependency links on your Gantt timeline. Check the box next to the dependency type you want to see and how: ### Category - Strong - Soft ### Display - Expanded - Collapsed ### Browse dependencies Check this option to open the **Dependencies** tab in Ganttโ€™s **[Infobar](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918800450)**.
