Closing OKRs is an important step in their lifecycle. It is where you assess whether the goals you've set for a particular period (typically a quarter or a year) have been achieved.

This process involves reviewing results, determining whether you met, exceeded, or fell short of your Key Results, and reflecting on performance. It is a crucial part of goal-setting and continuous improvement in any organization.

- By reviewing the OKRs at the end of the period, businesses can determine if everyone was working on the right things. Closing OKRs ensures efforts focus on what truly matters for the organization's success.
- Closing OKRs allows the organization to hold individuals and teams accountable for their contributions. This accountability drives better performance and ensures that people understand how their work impacts the larger business objectives.
- Whether a Key Result was achieved (or not) gives tangible insights into how the business is progressing toward its long-term goals. It also helps identify areas of underperformance and strengths that can be leveraged.
- After closing OKRs, businesses often gather valuable data that can inform strategic decisions, such as whether the results indicate a shift in market conditions.
