Updating your OKRs regularly is key to tracking progress and reaching your goals, but it can be easy to forget. That's where email reminders help.

## Permissions

Only [permitted users](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918765815)[OKR module permissions](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918765815)can enable/disable and customize **OKR reminder emails**:

- Jira Admin
- In-module Admin
- Users in roles with the granted **Manage notifications** permission.

To customize options in the **Comments & discussions** section, individual users do not require any permissions. 

## Set up email notifications

### OKR email reminder

> 📝 Note that the time zone for the email reminders is set to **UTC** (Coordinated Universal Time).

1. On the **Settings** > **Notifications** page, switch on the **OKR update reminder** option.
2. Select recipients, email reminder frequency, day, and time.
3. Optional: Send yourself a test email to see what the OKR email reminder looks like.

The email contains the following information about the OKRs:

- OKR Key and full name
- OKR progress
- Date of the last update

### Comments & discussions (per-user)

Every user can customize email updates on comments, even if they do not have the required global permissions to make changes on the **Settings** pages.

1. On the **Settings** > **Notifications** page, switch on the **Comments & discussion** option.
2. Check the options on the list to customize your notifications.

Based on the options you selected, your email can look like the one below:
