# Enhancements

## Financials module

### Gain full visibility into actual and remaining costs with a clear CapEx and OpEx breakdown

CapEx and OpEx are two primary categories for classifying a company's expenses.

- **CapEx** stands for **Capital Expenditure**. It's the money a company spends to buy, improve, or maintain long-term assets that will be used for longer periods
- **OpEx** stands for **Operational Expenditure**. This is the cost of a company's day-to-day business operations. These are recurring costs that are necessary to keep the business running.

In the Financials module, you can track CapEx and OpEx expenses by assigning tasks to one of these groups based either on a custom field or Jira filters.

Read more about the configuration of [custom expenses](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1918830158/Financials+Administration#CapEx-and-OpEx).

Read more about the custom expenses on the [box](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/2265317971/Initiative#CapEx-vs.-OpEx) and [portfolio](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/2265252322/Actual+vs+Planned#CapEx-vs.-OpEx) level.

### Adjust your view to encompass 5 years

In the Financials module, you can select a period of up to 5 years to view your financial information.

### View the financial information on a sub-box level

Now you can use the Financials module at the level of sub-boxes, such as program increments.

Keep in mind that the cost calculation is set up on the level of the parent box.

## Populate a box with data

### Box scope can be based on tasks linked to OKRs

When you select OKRs, the linked Jira work items - with or without their child items - are automatically added or removed from the box scope as you link or unlink them. This is especially useful when you practice goal setting across multiple teams, where Jira items are distributed across different projects.

Go to box configuration > Tasks > scope definition to adjust the settings.

You can link Jira work items only to KRs and not directly to Objectives or Strategic Themes. When you select an Objective or Strategic Theme from the dropdown, it means that the Jira work items associated with the child KRs should also be included in the scope.
