## Overview

Data residency settings determine where the app data is hosted. It is an important concept in the context of cloud hosting, mainly for legal and technical reasons.

On the one hand, data residency requires organizations to consider all regional data and privacy laws (for example, GDPR), governmental policies, and even the organizations’ terms and conditions.

On the other hand, data's geographical location can significantly impact latency, that is, how quickly app users in your company can perform their tasks and other business operations. For example, data residing 3000 miles away from your business can visibly add latency to your app.

## Security and access

Jira and App Admins can customize data residency settings on the **App Configuration** > **Region** > **Data residency** tab.

The servers are located in the following [AWS zones and regions](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/using-regions-availability-zones.html):

- US East 1 (N. Virginia)
- US East 2 (Ohio)
- Europe West 1 (Dublin, Ireland)
- Europe Central 1 (Frankfurt, Germany)
- Asia Pacific 1 (Singapore)
- Asia Pacific 2 (Sydney, Australia)
- Canada

Changing the residency location will cause a temporary downtime, usually up to a few minutes.

## 7pace Timetracker for Jira integration

7pace Timetracker data is stored in the **EU**, regardless of the region selected for BigPicture Enterprise. To learn more about the integration, see the [https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1961656332](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPM/pages/1961656332) page.
