This page explains the migration support details for the SQL for Confluence app data from the server/Data Center to the cloud.

## Prerequisites

To migrate SQL for Confluence from Confluence Data Center to Cloud using the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant, upgrade SQL for Confluence Data Center to a Forge-compatible version before you start the migration.

And, ensure you have <u>[Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219672/confluence-cloud-migration-assistant?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview)</u> installed on the Data Center instance.

> ℹ️ Administrators must ensure that the following feature flag is enabled in the server/Data Center instance as a part of the premigration setup:

> ℹ️ After your Cloud app is upgraded to the Forge version, use a Forge-compatible SQL for Confluence Data Center JAR version for CCMA migrations. Older Data Center app versions aren’t supported for migrations to the Forge Cloud app.

## <span style="color: #000000">Migration process</span>

- Before you begin, ensure you have all the required applications installed on the Data Center and the cloud. Refer to the <u>[Prerequisites](#Prerequisites)</u> section.
- <span style="color: #000000">Confluence instance migration - </span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">Use the </span><span style="color: #000000">[Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219672/confluence-cloud-migration-assistant?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview)</span><span style="color: #000000"> app to migrate everything you need from Confluence Server/Data Center to Atlassian Cloud. </span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">The </span><span style="color: #000000">[Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant](https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/cloud-migration-assistant-for-confluence-973486571.html)</span><span style="color: #000000"> provides a detailed step-by-step procedure to migrate the required content. Atlassian does this job for you in most cases.</span>

> ℹ️ - <span style="color: #000000">All global configuration data in the </span><span style="color: #000000">[Configuration](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SQL/pages/172884001)</span><span style="color: #000000"> page is transferred from the server/Data Center instance to the cloud instance.</span>
> ℹ️ - <span style="color: #000000">*Profile *</span><span style="color: #000000">configuration data migration is not supported</span><span style="color: #000000">*.*</span><span style="color: #000000"> Administrators are required to manually create profiles as required to avoid issues rendering SQL content on Confluence pages.</span>
> ℹ️ - <span style="color: #000000">If multiple migrations are performed on the same cloud instance, the latest migration takes precedence.</span>
> ℹ️ - <span style="color: #000000">Any subsequent migrations performed on the same cloud instance only adds or merges the data, but does not delete any existing data.</span>

> ℹ️ - <span style="color: #000000">The migration of data from server/Data Center to cloud is an independent process from app installation or configuration in your cloud instance. We recommend that administrators verify that all your data (configuration as well as your Confluence pages) are displayed properly after the migration process is completed. To report any issues, </span>open a [support ticket](https://appf.re/support).

## Forge migration update

SQL for Confluence Cloud 4.0.0 runs on Atlassian Forge.

This update does not require manual changes to existing SQL macros after migration. Existing SQL macros continue to render, and existing data source profiles, credentials, permissions, and configuration settings are preserved.

After the app update, migrated data can take 1 – 2 minutes to appear in SQL for Confluence Cloud. Wait a few minutes before validating migrated content.

After migration or upgrade, verify that:

- SQL macros render correctly.
- Existing data source profiles are available.
- Existing configuration settings are preserved.
- SQL macros can retrieve data as expected.
- Administrators do not need to reconnect or reauthorize data sources as part of the Forge update.

## <span style="color: #000000">Differences between server/Data Center and cloud versions</span>

<span style="color: #000000">Out of the macros available in the server/Data Center version, only the </span><span style="color: #000000">**SQL Query**</span><span style="color: #000000"> macro is supported in the cloud version for this release. </span>
