> ℹ️ If you **installed Swanly before July 2021**, you’ll need to manually select what Jira fields you’d like to map in Swanly.

> ℹ️ Use the following steps:

## Change the Jira fields connected to Swanly’s start and end dates

1. In Jira, navigate to **Apps > Swanly roadmaps > Issue view > Issue settings > Settings**.
2. Click **Change fields*** *in the *Connect Swanly dates with Jira fields* section.
3. From the drop-down, select the fields for the Swanly **start** and **end dates**.
4. Click **Save**.

Saving these changes might take a few minutes, depending on the number of issues you have in your projects. Once you save, you’ll notice that the issues in Swanly have updated their start and end dates based on the fields you selected. Now, if the selected field gets updated in Jira, then the issue start and end dates in Swanly update as well; it goes both ways.

> ℹ️ :check_mark: You can select any Jira field with a **date format**. 
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ :cross_mark: You won’t be able to select fields that store both, dates and hours, or other Jira fields like text, number, drop-down select, and so on.

> ⚠️ All start and end dates set in Swanly get updated with values in the selected Jira fields. If no dates are set in Jira fields, no dates will be set in Swanly.

> ⚠️ If you would like to **keep Swanly dates that were set prior to the mapping, **[read the following documentation](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SRTFJ/pages/603259263).

## Disconnect synchronization between Jira fields and Swanly issue start and end date

1. In Jira, navigate to **Apps **>** Swanly roadmaps **> **Issue view **> **Issue settings **>** Settings**.
2. Click **Change fields*** *in the *Connect Swanly dates with Jira fields* section.
3. From the drop-down, select *None* for the Swanly start and end date.
4. Click **Save**.

Once you save, all dates in Swanly will go back to how they were before the changes. Now, if you update the start date in Swanly, the change will not be reflected in any of the Jira fields, and otherwise.
