<span style="color: #003366">Surveys for Jira supports migration from Data Center to Cloud via the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant. Your survey configuration, permissions, and results can be migrated to the cloud instance without losing data or needing to reconfigure from scratch.</span>

## <span style="color: #003366">What data is migrated?</span>

<span style="color: #003366">The following data is migrated as part of the process:</span>

- <span style="color: #003366">Configuration of all active and inactive surveys within a project (Email, Form, and Conditions tab settings).</span>
- <span style="color: #003366">Survey permission settings.</span>
- <span style="color: #003366">Survey results in the issue glance and the Survey Feedback report.</span>

## <span style="color: #003366">Prerequisites for migration</span>

1. <span style="color: #003366">Your Jira instance runs on version 8.14 or above.</span>
2. <span style="color: #003366">Your version of the Surveys for Jira Data Center app is 4.0.8-jira8 or above.</span>
3. <span style="color: #003366">You have reviewed Atlassian's </span>[<span style="color: #333333">documentation</span>](https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/use-the-jira-cloud-migration-assistant-to-migrate-from-server-to-cloud-993925215.html)<span style="color: #003366"> about the </span>[<span style="color: #333333">Jira Cloud Migration Assistant</span>](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1222010/jira-cloud-migration-assistant)<span style="color: #333333">.</span>
4. You need to be an admin in both your Data Center and destination Cloud sites.

## <span style="color: #003366">Before migration</span>

1. <span style="color: #003366">Install </span>[<span style="color: #003366">Surveys for Jira</span>](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1213103/surveys-for-jira-jira-customer-surveys?hosting=cloud&tab=overview)<span style="color: #003366"> on your Jira Cloud site, or re-install it if already present. Re-installation is only required once, before your first Surveys data migration.</span>
2. <span style="color: #003366">Enable feature flags for app migration in the Data Center instance of Jira. Go to </span>**<span style="color: #003366"><Jira_URL>/secure/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and add </span>`com.atlassian.jira.migration.app-migration.feature`<span style="color: #003366"> to Site Wide Dark Features if it is absent.</span>
3. <span style="color: #003366">Add app log packages to check logs after migration. Go to </span>**<span style="color: #003366">System</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Logging and profiling</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → in </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Default Loggers</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> click </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Configure logging level for another package</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and add the following packages with Track level:</span>
  - `com.cprime.jira.plugin.survey.services.CloudMigrationServiceImpl`
  - `com.cprime.jira.plugin.survey.listener.CloudMigrationProcessListener`

## <span style="color: #003366">Migration process</span>

<span style="color: #003366">Once all prerequisites are met, follow these steps to migrate from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud:</span>

1. <span style="color: #003366">Go to </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Jira Administration</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">System</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Import and Export</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Migrate to cloud</span>**<span style="color: #003366">.</span>
2. <span style="color: #003366">Select </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Assess and Install apps</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and mark the </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Surveys for Jira</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> app as </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Needed in cloud</span>**<span style="color: #003366">.</span>
3. <span style="color: #003366">Complete the steps in the Assessment wizard.</span>
4. <span style="color: #003366">Go to </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Manage your migration</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and click </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Create new migration</span>**<span style="color: #003366">.</span>
5. <span style="color: #003366">Click </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Connect to cloud</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> to continue.</span>
6. <span style="color: #003366">Enter the </span>**<span style="color: #003366">migration name</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and your </span>**<span style="color: #003366">cloud site</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> to connect your Data Center and Cloud instances.</span>
7. <span style="color: #003366">Choose which data to migrate. You can transfer Surveys for Jira app data </span>**<span style="color: #003366">during</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> or </span>**<span style="color: #003366">after</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> the project migration.</span>
8. <span style="color: #003366">Select which projects to migrate. Projects with keys that already exist in the cloud destination cannot be migrated.</span>

10. <span style="color: #003366">Confirm that Surveys for Jira is marked as </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Needed in cloud</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> to migrate the app data.</span>
11. <span style="color: #003366">The Jira Cloud Migration Assistant will check for warnings or blockers.</span>
12. <span style="color: #003366">Review all warnings before starting the migration. If you choose </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Continue and fix later</span>**<span style="color: #003366">, you can review errors after saving the migration.</span>
13. <span style="color: #003366">Click </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Run</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> to start the migration. Progress and status are shown on the Migration dashboard.</span>
14. <span style="color: #003366">Once migration is complete, go to your project on the Jira Cloud site to verify the migrated surveys. Depending on data size, it may take some time for Surveys for Jira data to appear.</span>
15. <span style="color: #003366">To check Jira logs, go to </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Jira Administration</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">System</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> → </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Troubleshooting and support tools</span>**<span style="color: #003366">. On the </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Create support zip</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> tab, click </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Customize zip</span>**<span style="color: #003366"> and select </span>**<span style="color: #003366">Jira application logs</span>**<span style="color: #003366">.</span>
16. <span style="color: #003366">The downloaded file contains detailed information about the migration result.</span>

## <span style="color: #003366">After migrating</span>

> ⚠️ <span style="color: #003366">Due to </span>[<span style="color: #172b4d">Jira Cloud Migration Assistant limitations</span>](https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/what-gets-migrated-with-the-jira-cloud-migration-assistant-993925216.html)<span style="color: #003366">, some data cannot be migrated at this time.</span>

### <span style="color: #003366">What to review after migration:</span>

- <span style="color: #003366">If your survey recipient is a Jira user group, it will appear as a list of individual users in the cloud (Email tab).</span>
- <span style="color: #003366">Star questions are not supported in the cloud and will be converted to text questions (Form tab).</span>
- <span style="color: #003366">Trigger and frequency settings are transferred incompletely and must be reconfigured after migration (Conditions tab).</span>
- <span style="color: #003366">Review permission settings after migration, as users and groups migrated from Data Center may have different access levels in cloud.</span>
