This article provides information about datasource permissions required for the customer portal and steps to resolve the **Unexpected error: Status Code 500** issue.

## Issue

You encounter the following error on a customer portal dashboard:

- Unexpected error: Status Code 500 (see screenshot below)

## Instructions

1. Navigate to **Apps** > **Dashboard Hub** > Open Dashboard.
2. Click **Edit** > the **Action Button** (…) on gadget > **Configure**.

3. Click the **Green toggle** button and switch to the **Owner** permission.

4. Click **Save**

> 📝 - If the gadget is configured with the “**Run as Viewer**” option in the customer portal, it will attempt to use the logged-in user’s permissions. And when the logged-in user doesn’t have the proper permissions to request data, the 500 error is displayed. To be shared, gadgets must be configured with the “**Run as owner**” option.
