# **Summary**

After upgrading Jira to version 11.x, Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ) may fail to enable even if the correct app version (9.0.2 or later) is installed. This issue typically occurs due to leftover components from a previous failed upgrade or installation, leading to an inconsistent state in the Jira app manager. This article provides a clean reinstallation process to resolve the enabling failure.

# **Environment**

- **Product:** Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ)
- **Version:** 9.0.2-jira11
- **Host Product Version:** Jira 11.0.1 (and potentially other 11.x versions)
- **Platform:** Data Center

# **Problem**

Users report that after upgrading Jira (e.g., from 10.7.4 to 11.0.1) and attempting to update CMJ, the application fails to enable. Symptoms include:

- The "Enable" button in **Manage apps** does not successfully activate the app.
- The app remains in a "Disabled" or "Error" state despite having the compatible version for Jira 11 installed.

# **Cause**

This behavior usually happens when a previous upgrade attempt failed, leaving CMJ components (such as Configuration Manager Core, Integrity Check, or Power Admin) in an inconsistent or partially installed state. These orphaned components prevent the main CMJ app from initializing correctly.

# **Solution/Workaround**

To resolve this, perform a clean reinstallation of all CMJ-related components:

1. Navigate to **Administration > Manage apps > Manage apps**.
2. Locate and **Uninstall** all of the following CMJ-related apps/components if present:
  - Configuration Manager for Jira
  - Configuration Manager Core
  - Integrity Check for Jira
  - Power Admin
3. Restart the Jira instance (ensure no CMJ components are present upon startup).
4. Once Jira is back online, install **CMJ 9.0.2** (specifically the version designated for Jira 11) from the Atlassian Marketplace or via file upload.
5. Verify that the app enables automatically.

If the app still fails to enable after these steps:

1. Check the error message displayed in the **Manage apps** UI and note any specific stack traces.
2. Generate a **Support Zip** via **Administration > System > Troubleshooting and Support Tools > Create support zip**.
3. Contact Appfire Support with the error details and the Support Zip.
