### Summary

This article describes how to configure a multi-line chart in Rich Filters for Jira Dashboards to visualize the number of issues across multiple statuses over time. It covers two methods: using the Flexi charts gadget for custom 2D analysis and using the Two-dimensional statistics gadget for quick multi-line visualizations.

### Use case

A user wants to generate a timeline chart that displays a multi-line view of issue counts categorized by status (y-axis) against a date field (x-axis), such as the creation date or current date.

### Create a multi-line chart using Flexi charts

The Rich Filter Flexi Charts gadget supports advanced 2D chart configurations, such as clustered bar charts, stacked bar charts, and multi-line charts.

1. In your Jira dashboard, click **Add gadget**.
2. Search for and add the [Rich Filter Flexi Charts](https://support.appfire.com/space/RFCDOC/783941863/The+Rich+Filter+Flexi+Charts+Gadget) gadget.
3. In the gadget configuration:
  - Select your Rich Filter.
  - For **Chart type**, select **2D charts** > **Multi-line**.
  - For **X-axis**, select a date field, such as Created or Updated.
  - For **Y-axis**, select **Status**.
4. To filter for specific dates (for example, the current date), incorporate the date field into your Rich Filter Controller or use a Working query.
5. Click **Save**.

### Create a multi-line chart using Two-dimensional statistics

The Rich Filter Two-Dimensional Statistics gadget provides a quick way to switch between table and chart views without extensive configuration.

1. Add the [Rich Filter Two-Dimensional Statistics](https://support.appfire.com/space/RFCDOC/783941803) gadget to your dashboard.
2. In the gadget configuration:
  - Select your Rich Filter.
  - Set the **Statistic type** for rows and columns (for example, Status and Created).
3. Click **Save**.
4. In the displayed gadget, click the **Multi-line chart** icon located at the bottom right to switch from table view to chart view.

### Filter issues for the current date

If you need the chart to reflect issues based on the current date rather than the creation date, you can use a JQL-based [Working query](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/x/PgG6Lg) in the gadget settings.

1. In the gadget configuration, locate the **Working query** field.
2. Enter a JQL string to filter by the current date, such as:
3. Click **Save**. The chart now only displays issues updated since the start of the current day.
