## Summary

When publishing pages from a source space to a target space, the Comala Publishing app may report a successful publication, yet the pages remain in an “Out of Sync” status. This typically occurs when changes are made directly in the target space, creating a discrepancy that the app detects.

## Environment

| **Category** | **Details** |
| --- | --- |
| Product | Comala Publishing |
| Platform | Cloud |

## Problem

A user attempts to publish a set of approved documents (for example, 26 pages) from a source space to a target space. Although the app displays a success message confirming all pages were published, the pages continue to show an **Out of Sync **status in the publishing report or dashboard. Re-publishing these pages does not resolve the issue.

## Cause

The **Out of Sync **status persists because the app detects that the content in the target space differs from the expected published version. This is typically caused by one of the following:

- Manual edits made directly to pages in the target space.
- Automated processes or third-party apps are modifying the target pages.
- Permissions or restrictions on the target space prevent a clean overwrite.

## Solution

To resolve the **Out of Sync **status, configure the app to ignore discrepancies caused by changes in the target space.

1. Navigate to the source space.
2. Select **Space settings** > **Apps** > **Comala Publishing**.
3. Select the **Publishing settings** tab.
4. Enable the **Ignore target space changes **toggle.

> 📝 Re-publishing the pages multiple times will not resolve the issue. Without enabling the **Ignore target space changes** setting, the app continues to detect discrepancies in the target space and reverts the status to “Out of Sync.” This is not a timing issue; it is a configuration requirement when the target content has been modified.

## Known limitations

- It is recommended to limit **Edit** permissions in the target space to the "Comala Publishing" user to prevent manual changes that cause sync issues.

## Verification

1. Enable **Ignore target space changes**.
2. Go to the **Source** **Space** > **Apps** > **Comala Publishing**.
3. Confirm that the status for the relevant pages has changed from **Out of sync** to **Published**.
