This article explains how to retrieve and display the first assignee (original assignee) of a Jira issue, along with the current assignee, in Reports and Timesheets for Jira.

When generating reports, users often need to see the original assignee who was first assigned to an issue versus the person currently responsible for it.

This article covers:

- How to filter for the first assignee using the sequence parameter.
- How to display both first and current assignees in separate columns.

## Display the first assignee in a report

To isolate the first assignee from the issue's history, use the Assignee sequence filter.

1. Navigate to your report configuration.
2. In the fields selection area, add the History Assignee field to your report.
3. Add the Assignee sequence field to your report.
4. Apply a filter to the Assignee** **sequence column:
  - Set the filter value to `1`.
5. Click Run.

## Display both first and current assignees in separate columns

To compare the original assignee with the current one, you must include both the history and current fields.

1. In the fields selection area, add the following fields to your report:
  - History Assignee
  - Assignee (or Current assignee)
  - Assignee sequence
2. Set the filter for the Assignee sequence field to `1`.
3. Click Run.

The report will now display the first assignee in the History Assignee column and the current assignee in the Assignee column.
