This article answers common questions about migrating LaTeX Math from Confluence Data Center to Confluence Cloud using the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA). It covers macro compatibility, whitelisting, and the impact of phased migration.

### Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

### 1. Does all plugin data migrate successfully using CCMA?

Yes. LaTeX Math macro content (including `mathblock`, `mathinline`, `mathblock-ref`, `mathblock-table`, and `unit`) is embedded in the Confluence page body rather than a separate app database, so CCMA migrates it with the page.

### 2. What are the whitelisting requirements for LaTeX Math Cloud?

LaTeX Math Cloud runs on Atlassian Forge, so there are no Appfire-specific domains or IPs to whitelist. Allow the standard Atlassian Cloud domains and IPs in your network/firewall.

- **Port:** 443 (HTTPS)
- **Reference:** [Atlassian Cloud IP addresses and domains](https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/ip-addresses-and-domains-for-atlassian-cloud-products/)

### 3. What are the prerequisites before starting the migration?

- **Install the app:** Install LaTeX Math on your Cloud instance before running CCMA. Otherwise, migrated pages may show "Unknown macro" errors.
- **Version check:** Ensure CCMA, LaTeX Math DataCenter, and LaTeX Math Cloud are updated to their latest versions.
- **Convert third-party macros:** If you use third-party LaTeX macros (for example, from the LaTeX & MathJax app), use the app's **Prepare Migration** tool to convert them before running CCMA.

### 4. Macro compatibility and alternatives

The table below shows common DataCenter macros and their Cloud compatibility:

| Macro name | Cloud availability | Notes / alternatives |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `mathinline` | Yes | Fully supported; no changes needed. |
| `mathblock` | Yes | Fully supported. Use the **Anchor** parameter for equation numbering and references. |
| `unit` | Yes | Fully supported; no extra configuration required. |
| `latex` | No | This legacy macro requires an external renderer. Before migration, convert it to `mathinline` or `mathblock`. |

### 5. Does a phased migration affect previously migrated data?

No. LaTeX Math data lives in the page content, so migrating spaces in batches (for example, Phase 1: 100 spaces; Phase 2: 100 spaces) does not affect data migrated in earlier phases. Each CCMA run processes only the spaces you select for that batch.

### 6. What post-migration steps are required?

After migration completes:

1. Open a selection of migrated pages that contain LaTeX macros.
2. Verify that equations and units render correctly.
3. If you see "Unknown macro" errors, confirm the app is licensed and enabled on the Cloud site.
