## Why are some BigPicture modules unavailable on Jira Data Center?

### Overview

Customers often ask why certain modules (like OKRs, Priorities, or Risk Management) are missing or cannot be enabled in BigPicture for Jira Data Center (DC), even though they are visible or advertised in Cloud environments. This article clarifies the reasons, expected behaviors, and how to communicate these limitations to customers.

---

### 1. Background

BigPicture offers a range of modules (for example, Risk Management, OKRs, Priorities, and Financials) to enhance project and portfolio management in Jira. However, not all modules are available on every hosting platform. The feature set for Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center can differ significantly due to technical, architectural, and roadmap constraints.

### 2. Key points

### Cloud-only modules

- **OKRs and Priorities modules** are currently available **only on Jira Cloud**.
- These modules are not present in any version of BigPicture for Jira Data Center.
- There is no public ETA for their release on DC; development isn't yet scheduled.

### Version-dependent modules

- **Risk Management module** may be missing or non-functional in certain DC versions.
- If the module is stuck loading or not visible, it's often due to:
  - Running an older version of BigPicture on DC.
  - Compatibility issues with the Jira version (for example, Jira 11.x support may be pending).
- Upgrading BigPicture may resolve the issue, but only if the Jira version is supported.

### Communication best practices

- Always check the customer's hosting type and app version before troubleshooting missing modules.
- If a module is Cloud-only, clearly state this and avoid promising future availability unless confirmed by Product.
- For version-dependent modules, advise on upgrade paths and compatibility timelines, referencing official documentation or release notes.
