This article documents a resolved support case where a customer requested the ability to edit BasicTasks in Scenario mode directly from the Gantt view. Currently, BasicTasks can only be edited in Resource mode.

**Outcome:** The customer was informed that this is a known limitation and feature requests have been filed internally (ONE-85182 and related items). No ETA is available, and delivery was not planned for Q2 2025.

# Issue summary

A customer using BigPicture Cloud with Scenarios reported that BasicTasks (used to simulate additional issues in Scenario mode) cannot be edited in Gantt mode. Editing options such as estimate and assignee are only available in Resource mode. The customer requested that BasicTask editing be made available in Gantt mode as well.

# Symptoms observed

- BasicTasks created in Scenario mode are visible in Gantt view.
- However, editing fields (estimate, assignee, etc.) is not possible in Gantt mode.
- Editing is only available when switching to Resource mode.
- This creates extra steps for users who primarily work in Gantt view.

# Root cause

This is a **current product limitation**, not a bug. BigPicture's Gantt module does not yet support inline editing of BasicTask properties in Scenario mode. This functionality is only available in the Resource module.

# Resolution

The customer was informed about the limitation and provided with:

1. **Internal feature request reference:** ONE-85182 (and related linked items)
2. **Current status:** No delivery planned for Q2 2025; no ETA available
3. **Workaround:** Switch to Resource mode to edit BasicTask properties, then return to Gantt view

# How to handle similar cases

1. **Confirm the scenario**  
Verify that the customer is using Scenarios with BasicTasks and attempting to edit them in Gantt mode.
2. **Explain the limitation**  
BasicTask editing in Gantt mode is not currently supported. This is a known limitation.
3. **Provide the workaround**  
Advise switching to Resource mode to edit BasicTask properties.
4. **Reference the feature request**  
Point the customer to ONE-85182 for tracking purposes.
5. **Set expectations**  
No ETA is currently available for this feature.
