# Overview

This article explains how to troubleshoot Salesforce-to-Jira updates that are not pushed by an Apex trigger using `JCFS.API.pushUpdatesToJira`. Use this guide to confirm whether the issue is caused by manual push behavior, Connector configuration, or customized Apex trigger logic.

# Symptoms

- Salesforce records are associated with Jira issues, but updates made in Salesforce are not pushed automatically to Jira.
- The Apex trigger appears to run, but the associated Jira issue does not reflect the expected changes.
- Manual push from the Salesforce UI may fail, return an error, or work successfully while the automated trigger still fails.

# Cause

This issue can occur when the Connector configuration, Jira association, field mappings, or Apex trigger logic prevents Salesforce updates from being pushed to Jira. The troubleshooting steps below help isolate which area is causing the failure.

- The Connector configuration has missing or incorrect bindings or field mappings.
- The Salesforce record does not have a valid Jira association for update sync.
- The fields being modified in Salesforce are not mapped for push to Jira.
- The Apex trigger is not passing the correct records to `JCFS.API.pushUpdatesToJira`.
- The Apex trigger conditions prevent the update path from running.

# Troubleshooting steps

## 1. Test manual push from the Salesforce UI

Open a Salesforce record that is already associated with a Jira issue and perform a manual push from the Salesforce UI.

- If manual push fails or an error is displayed, review the UI error against the available Connector documentation or open a ticket with Appfire Support.
- If manual push succeeds and no error is displayed, continue with the direct API update test from Salesforce Developer Console.

If manual push fails or an error is displayed, capture a HAR file while reproducing the issue and include it if you open a ticket with Appfire Support. HAR capture instructions: <u>[Generate HAR files and analyze web requests for Atlassian support](https://confluence.atlassian.com/kb/generating-har-files-and-analyzing-web-requests-720420612.html)</u>

## 2. Execute a direct API update test from Salesforce Developer Console

To help determine whether the issue is related to the Connector API, test the `pushUpdatesToJira` API directly from Salesforce.

1. Open **Developer Console**.
2. Go to **Debug > Open Execute Anonymous Window**.
3. Paste the test code below.
4. Replace the sample Case ID **with a valid Salesforce record that is already associated with a Jira issue.**
5. Run the script.

```java
// Replace with your specific Case ID
List<Case> cases = [SELECT Id FROM Case WHERE Id = '500KW000020EjT6YAK'];
System.debug('Cases Found: ' + cases.size());
JCFS.API.pushUpdatesToJira(cases, cases);
```

- If this direct API call does **not** update the associated Jira issue or returns an error, the problem is likely related to the Connector configuration, such as bindings, field mappings, record association, or another connection-level setting. Review the error against the Connector documentation or open a ticket with Appfire Support.
- If the direct API call **does** update the Jira issue successfully, it means the Connector API is functioning correctly. Continue to Step 3 to review the trigger implementation.

## 3. Review the trigger implementation

If manual push from the Salesforce UI works, no Connector errors are displayed, the direct `pushUpdatesToJira` test updates Jira successfully, and the implementation is not using the documented standard trigger, the issue is likely in the customized trigger logic.

Customized Apex triggers are outside Appfire Support’s full support scope. Appfire can fully support the standard triggers included in the product documentation. For customized implementations, Appfire can provide best-effort guidance, but cannot guarantee that recommendations will resolve issues specific to custom code.

Compare the customized trigger with the [documented](https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CSFJIRA/pages/1874001954) standard trigger and confirm that it passes the expected records to `JCFS.API.pushUpdatesToJira` under the correct update conditions.

## 4. If you open a ticket with Appfire Support

### a- Export the Salesforce integration connection

Export the active Salesforce integration connection from Jira so the configuration can be reviewed.

1. Go to **Apps > Salesforce > Connections**.
2. Open the relevant connection.
3. Select **Configure**.
4. Click **Export** in the top-right corner.
5. Provide the exported connections JSON file to Appfire Support for review.

This helps verify connection settings, authentication, and endpoint configuration that affect push behavior.

### b- Export the Salesforce integration bindings and mappings

Export the active Salesforce integration bindings and mappings from Jira so the configuration can be reviewed.

1. Go to **Apps > Salesforce > Bindings**.
2. Open the relevant binding.
3. Go to **Mapping > Mappings**.
4. Share a screenshot of the mappings with Appfire Support.
5. Export the mappings JSON file and provide it to Appfire Support for review.

This helps verify bindings, issue types, field mappings, and value mappings that affect push behavior.

### c- Review the Apex trigger used for update sync

Provide the full Apex trigger responsible for pushing Salesforce changes to Jira.

1. In Salesforce, go to **Setup > Developer Console**.
2. Open the relevant Apex trigger.
3. Share the full trigger code or a complete screenshot with Appfire Support.
